Layers of Visual Warmth

Just as you dress for the change in season so should your home … “fashion for the home” so to speak.

The cooler days of fall are fast approaching, as are the “cozy up by the fire” days of winter. You can feel it in the air as the mornings are brisk and the daylight hours are shortened. I love to see the window dressings and displays of the fashion boutiques as their mannequins change out of linen and bathing suits to gorgeous cashmere, suede, leather, and fur. Just as you dress for the change in season so should your home … “fashion for the home” so to speak. A few staple fall/winter accessories that I purchase for my client’s homes are multiple layers of alpaca, cashmere, and fur pelts. The dense textures draped on ottomans, arms of chairs, or scattered pelts on the floor help to create a visual weight and warmth clearly welcoming in a change of cold weather season. I also bring an assortment of decorative pillows covered in wool and glittering embellishments inviting the mind’s eye to see and settle in for the upcoming holidays…. festive atmosphere building. Leather is another “go to” material that adds weight to a room such as leather poufs and dark stained trays that are easily stored until the season beckons them back out for use. The key is building a great foundation to work with which then lends itself to easy accessorizing to fully embrace the change in fashion and cold weather temperatures. Layer upon layer of visual warmth! Beautiful!
